Since 1993 Nichol has been creating wines exclusively from grapes grown in Naramata. Our vineyards, on a pocket of land tucked against steep heat-radiating rock cliffs, are the ideal place to craft wines demonstrating intense fruit and refreshing acidity. Our soils - glacial till, granite shards, bedrock and silt - create a site that is extreme and unique. Listed below are the notes for our current releases. If you would like to discuss any of our wines, please feel free to send us an email at sales@nicholvineyard.com or find us on Twitter or Facebook to share your thoughts. |

2010 GewurztraminerOur Gewürztraminer comes from an acre planted behind the winery 1400 feet above sea level. This site gives us cooler nights than the rest of the vineyard a slightly later harvest date resulting in lots of natural acidity in our gewürztraminer. We therefore make a fairly dry wine driven by citrusy acidity that reflects this site and the type of fruit it produces. |

2009 9 Mile Red2009 will only be the second vintage of 9 Mile Red we have made though we have been growing the grapes that make up this wine for over 20 years. It is a very small production blend of our St. Laurent with our Pinot Noir. The impetus for this wine was to make something that could be consumed slightly earlier than some of our other reds while still being made in the same qualitative mold (it's really just a selection of specific barrels). Basically, we taste through barrels of our St. Laurent and barrels of our Pinot Noir and find the ones that show the brightest aromatics, softest tannins and most forward fruit character. The grapes that go in to this wine literally grow right next to each other, just outside the winery doors. It’s a grueling night of trial tasting but someone has to do it. |

2009 Cabernet FrancOur Cabernet Franc is sourced from 13 rows of vines at the front of our property and from an acre planted 700 meters below the winery. We pick and farm our Cab Franc with an eye to optimal maturity, through very low yields, combined with a focus on acid retention. We want this wine to taste and smell like Cabernet Franc should; savory, minerally and full of berry fruit character all enhanced by focused acidity. |
