Father's Day Gift
PINOT GRIS 2020 Clear and youthful with a salmon berry/pink hue. Aromas of fuzzy peaches, apricot skin, and grapefruit . Medium bodied with citrus pith and apricot pits and a touch of cream on the fruity and juicy palate. Softer and richer than recent vintages but with tempering acidity. Richer dishes like roast chicken/turkey and BBQ salmon would be great here. Now – 2023+
NATES VINEYARD YOUNG VINES SYRAH 2019 Vibrant ruby in colour. High toned aromatics of lilacs and fennel fronds with a touch of white pepper. Medium bodied and focused palate of ripe red berry fruits, sweet herbs and pepper. This is a fine, detailed version of our young vines that is easy to drink but has intense, crunchy persistence on the palate. Easy to drink now but we see this rewarding at 5 to 8 years in the cellar. Drink Now - 2030
NATES VINEYARD YOUNG VINES SYRAH 2016 Clear vibrant ruby. Bright aromatics of red berry fruit, liquorice/dill sprig and suis bois. Medium bodied, bright fresh black cherry fruit, resolving but supportive tannins and bright acidy. Still a puppy but super delicious right now. Drink now - 2028+
OLD VINES SYRAH 2019 From the oldest Syrah vineyard in Canada. The 2019 vintage was cooler again than 2018 and has yielded the most archetypal cool climate syrah we have ever produced at Nichol. On the tighter more delineated side and even less opulent 2018. The aromatics this year are high toned and delineated and speak to the nuance and sophistication of fruit this vintage has given us. Look for pretty red berries, lilacs and poutpourri, licorice, and the typical game and leather notes we usually see but with greater lift and finesse Again a crunchy intensity and persistence on the palate that will really reward cellaring. Don't let the delicacy of this vintage fool you, these wines are built for the cellar. We are very excited. Please decant. Drink now - 2030+
OLD VINES SYRAH 2012 From the oldest Syrah vineyard in Canada. Medium garnet with a slightly bricking edge. Mature aromatics of leather, baked red tree fruits and dried flowers. Medium bodied and intense with more flavours of dried red fruits, warmed baking spices and subtle cracked pepper. Fine tannins and fresh acidity carry the long finish. This may throw a small amount of sediment at the end of the bottle. Drink now -2023.
